Learner for Life:
Program Structure

Pre-Self-regulated Learning Assessment

Session 1

Introduction

Discover what Self-regulated Learning is all about & how it will enable you to take control of your learning. We'll identify your strengths, areas for growth, & follow a personalised plan for academic success

In this lesson we’ll talk about self-regulated learning—basically, how you can take control of your learning to achieve your academic goals. We’ll look at the results of your initial assessment to see where your strengths are and where you might need support. I’ll share a personalised plan to help you improve these skills, and we’ll go over how this program fits with your current studies. By the end, you’ll have a clear idea of how we’ll work together to set you up for success!

Session 2

Metacognition

Learn how metacognition—thinking about your own learning—helps you plan, track, and improve your study habits

In simpler terms, metacognition means being aware of and managing your own thoughts. Without it, tackling anything in life, like your education or assignments , is like running a space mission without mission control (Dr Shyam Barr). In this lesson, you'll learn how to effectively apply metacognitive strategies to give you greater control and mastery over your learning and outcomes.

Session 3

Cognition

Learn how to organise ideas, manage complex topics, and study smarter with evidence-based strategies

In this session, we’ll explore the mental processes behind acquiring, organising, and applying knowledge. You’ll learn evidence-based cognitive strategies designed to help you process information more efficiently, manage complex ideas, and apply what you’ve learned with confidence. In short, you’ll gain the tools to learn smarter, not harder.

Session 4

Motivation

Learn how motivation works through self-efficacy, mindset, and goal orientation

In this session, you'll explore motivation—what drives students to engage, complete assignments, and achieve their academic goals. We'll focus on three key factors: self-efficacy (belief in your ability to succeed), mindset (the belief that skills and intelligence can grow through effort), and goal orientation (strategic approaches to achieving academic success).

Session 5

Resource Management & Emotion

Learn to manage time, reduce stress, build healthy habits, and boost confidence for effective learning

This week, you’ll learn to identify common sources of stress and develop proactive strategies to tackle them head-on. We’ll cover practical ways to build healthier habits in key areas like diet, sleep, time management, and maintaining a study-life balance. You’ll also explore effective study techniques and confidence-boosting strategies to enhance your self-perception, helping you approach your learning journey with positivity and enjoyment.

Session 6

Integration (bringing it all together)

Consolidate strategies, set goals, and leave empowered for academic success

In this concluding session, we’ll consolidate everything you’ve learned, reinforcing the strategies and their real-world impact. Together, we’ll craft a personalised, actionable plan with goals for the days, weeks, and long term ahead. You’ll leave feeling empowered, focused, and ready to take on your academic journey with confidence and purpose.
